Reactions are trailing the postponement of Local Government Elections in Plateau State.
Correspondent JAMES ABRAHAM reports that the State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC,had on Monday postponed till later date ,the council poll earlier scheduled to hold on February 17th ,2018 citing security reasons.
PLASIEC Chairman, Fabian Ntung who announced the postponement at a press briefing in Jos claimed that the electoral body had concluded all arrangement to conduct the poll at the earlier scheduled date before security reports forced them to postpone the elections
But , a cross section of residents who reacted to the postponement while speaking with JAY FM in Jos on Monday condemned the action of PLASIEC saying that it was wrong for the electoral body to postpone the poll when the electorate were already getting set to vote for the candidates of their choice.
The respondents therefore urged PLASIEC to do everything possible to ensure that the election is conducted at the shortest possible time as the people were tired of having Transition Committees at the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
