Chief of Army Staff, COAS Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, , has expressed total satisfaction with Operation Lafiya Dole commanders and troops, for killing five commanders and 82 foot soldiers of the Book Haram terrorists group within the 40 days ultimatum to capture the terrorists leader, Abubakar Shekau, dead or alive.
This is just as he has extended the deadline, with unspecified date, for the troops to capture Abubakar Shekau.
General Buratai said although Shekau has not yet been captured as directed, the killing of the five key commanders, who were his closest associates has done him a big blow, and sent a dangerous signal to him.
Speaking through Director of Army Public Relations, DAPR Brig-Gen. Sani Usman, , in a statement yesterday, Buratai congratulated the theatre Commander, Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, his Sector Commanders and all troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE for pursuing vigorously, the directive he handed down to them since July 21.
Although the leader has not been captured, the COAS noted with satisfaction the zeal and determination with which the directive was pursued.
The COAS, who is apparently pleased with the operations, said in his judgment that his Commander was very close to achieving the directive.
